4/1 Forever

I've shot a lot of weddings this past year but none of them have been as meaningful as my most recent one.

I've known Jon and Donna for over 15 years now and throughout this time, we've shared so many laughs and memories together. Jon has always been a big brother to me and has been a huge influence on my life in so many ways. Donna is the sweetest person ever and likes to take care of me like I was her little brother. But above all else, the one thing I love the most about them, is their consistent love for not only me but for one another. It has always been something that I admired about them and their love was something that I hoped to find (glad I finally did, haha).

They asked me to take photos for them as they didn't plan on hiring a photographer for their wedding. I didn't hesitant and happily accepted their request.

Now don't get me wrong, every wedding I shoot is important and meaningful to me, but the relationships I have with these two heightened the meaning behind my work. It's funny because originally they had told me to only take shots of the "highlights" of the ceremony and reception and to not go overboard and enjoy the day. But we all know that wasn't going to happen. It's in my nature to want to go above and beyond for people who trust me to capture such an important moment in their lives.

The ceremony was absolutely amazing. The church was beautiful, Donna was gorgeous, Jon was crying a lot - I can say this because I'll probably cry even more at my wedding - and overall, everyone was just so happy and joyful witnessing such a beautiful wedding. The one thing that stood out to me during the ceremony and the part that made almost everyone cry was when Deacon Ron mentioned how he fell in love with them throughout the time he's gotten to know and work with them. If you ever met Jon and Donna, you'd know that this is a reoccurring thing and they form strong relationships quickly with those around them.

When I look back on this day, it almost feels surreal to me. My friends and I have all been waiting for this day for almost a decade now and to think they finally tied the knot is so crazy but awesome at the same time. I was honored to be part of their wedding both as a guest and as their "hired" photographer, but I'm even more happy that I get to add this special day to our friendship memory bank.

Here's to many more memories to come. I love you both dearly.
